Description

From the fells and lakes of the north to the industrial areas around Manchester and Liverpool, gin is making its mark. Drinking it and crafting it has captured the imagination from Merseyside to Manchester and across Lancashire, Cumbria and Cheshire.

Taking strength from its industrial heritage, maritime trade, glorious countryside and rich history, some of the finest gins in the country have been created in the North West of England.

Gins of the North West tells the stories of these passionately-crafted spirits, where the industry has come from and where it’s going.

Gins of the North West is a comprehensive guide to the region’s makers, distilleries and their gins.

about the author

Fiona Laing is an author and journalist. She has been writing about food and drink for more than a decade and in 2018 started a journey around British gin. First came The GIN CLAN, then YORKSHIRE’S GINS – each providing comprehensive guides to their region’s gin. Her interest in drinks started when she worked with the first Indian single malt whisky to launch in Europe. Other spirits and wine were never far behind as she travelled the world, listening to the stories of the makers. Food editor, hotel judge, travel writer, Fiona has explored food and drink whenever her career as a newspaper journalist and PR consultant allowed.
